July on the beach

We had a great time, of course, on our annual trip with my parents to San Clemente, CA again this year. We spent a lot of time sitting by the ocean - and amazingly no one got really burned this year! (Which I will admit is usually me). There were fun times with my parents, both of my brothers and their families and even Andy's cousin Eric and his wife Lucinda. My dad won 1st place in the "creature" category of the annual sand castle competition again this year - and once again none of us was there to help. :( Someday Dad - I promise!

Mary spent her first year on the beach mainly confined to her stroller... those of you who have taken an infant to the beach know what fun they can be in the sand. At 8 months she isn't quite crawling yet - but is mobile with her "worm" motion. She will also put anything in her mouth so we were constantly on the fight again sand and rocks. But, she was happy as a clam so long as she at least had a beach toy to play with - but HATED getting near the water.

Mary is a sister dear to George's heart since they share a mutual hatred of the water. For the 3th year in a row he has only grudgingly gone into the water - with the explicit promise of an ice cream cone to follow. He does keep busy though - every day he dug a huge hole... Guess he takes after Opa.

Nina on the other hand could not get enough of the water. She LOVES it. She makes it worth going down the steep, steep hill to get to the ocean. She also carried her own weight by carrying her bucket - at least down to the beach, if not back.

And, finally - this is me and my Mom. I had to throw this in to prove I exist since there aren't that many of pictures of me...
